My neighbor fixed my boot loop by telling me to check the RAM slot order

So I was banging my head against the wall for 2 hours trying to get my PC to post after installing a new CPU cooler. It kept cycling on and off like a haunted toaster. My retired electrician neighbor saw me dragging the tower to the curb and asked what's up. He said 'try swapping the sticks to slots 2 and 4 instead of 1 and 3' and boom it fired right up. Has anyone else had a random tip from a non PC person save your build?

My buddy Kyle had a similar thing happen with his old Dell Optiplex last year. He was ready to toss it out the window because it kept freezing during boot, and his grandpa who used to fix TVs said "unscrew the hard drive and push the cable in tighter." Kyle thought it was dumb but tried it, and sure enough the SATA cable was barely hanging on. Ever since then he calls his grandpa anytime his PC acts up, even if it's something complicated. Funny how the simplest fixes come from people who don't even know what a GPU is.

Ha! Did his grandpa ever explain why he checked the cable first?
