I put a bucket in my shower and now my water bill is dropping.
Ngl, catching that cold shower water for the backyard has been a total no-brainer.

That's such a smart move. I started doing the same thing a few months back with a big mixing bowl. You really notice the difference on the water bill after a while. It's perfect for my patio plants too, they're looking way better with all that extra water. Kind of crazy how much just goes down the drain otherwise.

Picture this: you're so into saving water that you start measuring how much pasta water you can reuse for your garden. In my case, I got weird looks for keeping a bucket next to the shower. It got to the point where my roommate asked if we were preparing for a drought apocalypse. Your mileage may vary, but it's kinda funny how extreme we can get with this stuff.

My buddy Carl in Phoenix got so into greywater he rigged up a hose from his washing machine to a big barrel outside. His wife came home to find him knee deep in sudsy water trying to direct the flow to their citrus trees. They had a long talk about laundry soap and plant health that night. He switched to a special soap but still uses the system for rinse cycles. It works great but the setup looks pretty wild in his backyard.

Your roommate's drought apocalypse comment is probably right, but hey, free plant water.
