Tried to fix a leaky toilet at my sister's wedding reception

I thought I could replace the flapper in 10 minutes before guests showed up. Ended up flooding the basement bathroom at her venue in Des Moines and had to mop it up in my suit pants. Anyone else bring a wrench to a formal event and regret it?

Did you at least remember to turn the water off before tearing into it? I pulled the same move at my cousin's wedding last summer, showed up ready to fix a leaky faucet in the bridal suite and ended up with a geyser soaking my rental tux. The groom's mom handed me a hand towel and told me to "make it work" while I stood there in wet dress shoes. Flappers and fancy events, man, they just don't mix.
