That $40 caulk gun I ignored for years finally bit me

Bought the cheap squeeze tube kind at a hardware store. Used it to seal around my tub last spring. After 3 months the sealant cracked and water got behind the tile. Had to rip out a whole section of drywall. Total repair cost me $220 and a full weekend. Anyone else learn this lesson the hard way?

Respectfully disagree, the cheap stuff works fine if you prep the surface right lol.

Had a buddy who did the exact same thing with his kitchen sink. Used the cheap tube stuff and it lasted maybe 4 months before it peeled off like old skin. Ended up with a moldy mess behind the cabinet. He still brings it up every time someone mentions caulk.
