My attempt to fix a dripping faucet turned into a 4-hour plumbing nightmare when I accidentally cross-threaded the new cartridge and water sprayed everywhere in my kitchen

I was replacing a $12 cartridge in my bathroom sink last Saturday and somehow managed to strip the threads so bad that when I turned the water back on, it shot a jet of water straight at my face, soaked the entire counter, and I had to call my landlord at 9 PM to come fix my mess.

Cross threading is actually kinda different from stripping, not that it matters much when you got water in the face lol. Cross threading is when the threads dont line up and you force it, stripping is when you grind them down completely. Either way you ended up with a swimming pool in your kitchen. At least you had the sense to call the landlord, I woulda just panicked and tried to fix it myself again and flooded the whole building.

I read cross threading is basically like forcing a screw in crooked.
