Update: cable tray from an old router box finally clicked after 3 tries
Last month I kept dropping my power strip behind the desk in Denver, so I cut a $0 router box into a cable tray and zip-tied it under the front edge. It holds all the bricks now, but I'm wondering if anyone else has a trick for keeping the strip from sliding out when you bump the desk.

Different take here. The zip tie trick works until it doesnt, especially if the strip has any weight on it. I just put a thin strip of velcro on the back of the strip and the tray, that holds it way better than a zip tie ever will. Also, make sure the zip ties are tight under the desk edge, not just around the tray itself. If those slip, the whole thing drops anyway.

...man I feel this in my bones. I've definitely been there where you finally get something to work and then it just betrays you at the worst moment. The velcro idea is smart though, I might have to steal that because I've got the same sliding problem with mine.
What really helped me was putting a couple of those little stick-on rubber bumpers on the underside of the desk, right where the strip sits. They give just enough grip to keep everything from creeping forward when I bump into the desk with my chair.
Also, I learned the hard way to check those zip ties every few weeks. They stretch out or loosen up just enough that the whole thing starts sagging slowly and you don't notice until it's too late. Have you tried using a second zip tie going the opposite direction for extra hold? That made a big difference for me.
