Threw $200 at Facebook ads for a local coffee shop with no targeting and got 12 leads in a day
I was helping my buddy's new coffee shop in Austin get some traction. He had zero budget so I just set up a basic ad with a photo of their cold brew, set the location to a 5 mile radius, and put no interests or demographics. Figured it would be a waste. But the next morning he had 12 people message him asking about catering and wholesale. I learned that sometimes simple geo targeting beats all the fancy audience layers people overthink.

That's really interesting how you just set it to a 5 mile radius and it worked out. I mean, sometimes the simple stuff really does beat all those complicated targeting layers people obsess over. Idk, maybe it's just me but I feel like when you over-target you end up filtering out the people who genuinely might be interested just because they don't fit some demographic box. Like with the coffee shop example, you probably got a mix of people who saw the ad and thought "hey thats close to me and looks good" instead of trying to guess who likes coffee.

Yeah @hugo_jones2 half the time overthinking just makes you miss the easy wins, right?
