Can we talk about how influencer pricing got totally insane in the last 2 years?

I run a small skincare brand out of Austin and I used to pay micro influencers $50 for a post. Last month one with 12k followers asked me for $800 for a single Instagram story. I laughed at first but she was serious. I feel like these rates are pulling away from actual return on investment. Is anyone else seeing this or is my city just off the rails?

Wait, $800 for a story from 12k followers? I feel like I'm taking crazy pills over here. I had a girl with 8k ask for $600 and I literally spit out my coffee. Last year I was paying $30 for a solid post, now these people want my whole marketing budget for a 24 hour video of them holding the product.

Yeah the "holding the product" thing gets me too @jesseb20. You said "a 24 hour video of them holding the product" and that's exactly what drives me nuts. Like they think just showing the bottle or box is enough work to charge hundreds. I think people forget that a story is usually just them talking to their phone for 10 seconds. It's not a full photoshoot or anything. But I guess when everyone started paying crazy rates last year it set a new normal nobody can walk back from. The $30 days are gone for good sadly.
