People overhype how fast you can fix a broken Google Ads account

I spent 6 weeks cleaning up a client's account that had 4 years of bad data and mismatched conversion tracking. Everyone talks about quick wins but nobody mentions fixing the foundation takes that long. How long did your last account cleanup actually take?

Man 6 weeks sounds like a vacation compared to my last nightmare. Took me almost 3 months to untangle some messed up phone call tracking where the client had 3 different agencies set stuff up and none of them talked to each other. Found out the hard way when I accidentally double counted 400 conversions in a week and the client thought they were killing it. Felt like a real genius when I had to explain to them that no, they actually weren't getting 10x ROAS from that one random campaign. Fixed the tracking and their data finally made sense but yeah the whole process was a slog.
