Looked at my first Facebook ad from 2012 the other day

I was digging through old ad accounts for a client last week and found a campaign I ran back in 2012 for a local bakery in Austin. The targeting was basically just "women 25-45" with no interest layering. The ad was a jpeg of a cupcake with comic sans text. It had a 4% click through rate and cost us 12 cents per click. Now I spend half my day fighting with Meta's algorithm and custom audiences that barely work. That old ad would probably get flagged for too much text anyway. You think targeting has actually gotten better or just more complicated?

Comic sans was a bold move even back then.

Wait, did your friend actually use comic sans on a professional document or was it for like a party invite? One time in high school I used comic sans for a history presentation about the Roman Empire and my teacher literally stopped mid-lecture to ask if I was joking. I had to stand there and explain that I thought it made the fall of Rome seem more approachable lol. The worst part is I had also used like five different font colors on the same slide because I thought it looked creative.
