Cable combs over zip ties, no contest after my rebuild
Spent 6 hours at my desk redoing the GPU runs with proper combs, and the airflow through my 5000D dropped 4 degrees under load compared to the zip tie mess. Anyone else see a real temp difference, or is it just the cleaner look fooling me?
Cable combs look nice but a 4 degree drop from just swapping zip ties for combs is a stretch in my book. Airflow is about how much space is open for air to move, and combs mostly just hold the cables in a straight line, which you can get from zip ties too if you place them right. What probably happened is your rebuild moved some cables out of the way or cleared a path you did not notice before, so the combs got the credit for something else. Or your room temp dropped a couple degrees and you did not catch it. I am not saying the temps are wrong, just that the combs being the reason is hard to buy without testing the same layout with zip ties again.
