I finally tried writing a story about a haunted library in my town
I used a prompt about a librarian who can see ghosts, set it in the old Carnegie library here in Springfield. But my main character, a guy named Leo, ended up just wanting to help the ghosts find peace instead of being scared of them. Has anyone else had a spooky prompt turn into something really kind?

It's cool how that shift happens... the scary part becomes the setting, not the point. My last ghost story turned into a thing about a ghost helping a kid find a lost pet. The kindness angle just feels more real, like it digs into why someone might still be hanging around. Your Leo sounds like a good guy.

Honestly, how do you even write a scary ghost anymore? I tried once and it just wanted to organize my spice rack, which honestly was more helpful than terrifying. That kindness angle really does get under your skin in a better way. It makes the whole idea of sticking around feel sad and human, not just about jumpscares. Your lost pet story sounds way more my speed.
