Update: That $80 crane scale from the online auction

Honestly, I thought I scored a deal on a wireless crane scale for a job moving HVAC units in Phoenix. Tbh, the thing worked for about two hours before the display just went blank mid-lift. Ngl, I had to eyeball the weight for the rest of the day, which was not ideal. Anyone have a go-to brand for scales that won't quit on you in the heat?

Feel your pain, that mid-lift failure sounds like a nightmare. Phoenix heat will absolutely cook cheap electronics. I've had good luck with the basic steel-bodied ones from industrial suppliers, they're just tougher.

Seriously, has anyone checked if the mounting bracket itself is warping in that heat?

So did the scale just give up and decide to retire early to a cooler climate? lmao. Classic case of getting exactly what you paid for, I guess. That heat turns cheap gear into a fancy paperweight real quick.
