Serious question, is hands-on repair always worth the drive time?
Some guys say you can't beat being there to check the physical parts. But remote tools fix most issues faster, where do you stand?

Remote tools fix most issues faster? Seriously? Last week, I tried to fix a server issue remotely for hours, only to find out the power cable was just loose. You can't wiggle a connection through a screen. Some problems are just physical, like a cracked board or a fan full of dust. Trusting remote tools for everything is like trying to cook dinner by only reading the recipe, never tasting the food.

Actually, remote tools can often spot physical issues too. For example, a server dropping off the network might trigger a power alert in the monitoring system. High temperature readings could point directly to a fan packed with dust. They're best used to narrow down the cause before anyone touches the hardware. In your case, a quick look at power metrics might have shown that drop, saving those hours of guesswork.
