Hot take: Most comic fans skip the letter columns and miss half the story
I was reading an old issue of X-Men from 1983 and the letter column explained a plot point that didn't make any sense in the actual comic. If you don't read those back pages you're literally missing writer intent and inside jokes.

I mean I still skip them and just pretend I got the whole story like a real fan.

Right? But what if the skipped scene is actually the hidden canon that makes the ending hit different.

Oh totally, that's what I'm saying too. I think those skipped scenes are like the secret sauce that makes the whole thing make sense. Maybe it's just me but when I go back and watch them after the first time, everything clicks into place and the ending feels way more earned. Like the author or director probably cut them for time or pacing but they're actually the emotional core that the rest of the story builds toward. Without them you're basically just getting the skeleton of the plot without the meat that gives it weight. I'd rather have a slightly longer story that hits harder than a short one that leaves me scratching my head.
