Why does the library cafe think we want $9 smoothies?

I went to the campus library cafe yesterday and saw they're charging $9 for a small smoothie. That's more than my meal plan swipe gets me at the dining hall. I get they want to make money but who in college has that kind of cash for a drink? Has anyone else noticed the prices creeping up at your campus spots too?

The library cafe has lost its mind with that $9 price tag. I swear half that smoothie is just ice, like @stone.evan said his friend found out. For that much money it should come with a free textbook or something. My meal plan swipe gets me a whole hot meal but they want almost ten bucks for a watery fruit drink. I noticed last semester their smoothies were $6 and now they jumped up without warning. Feels like they know we're stuck on campus and can't fight back so they just raise prices whenever they want.

My friend paid that for a smoothie last week and said it was mostly ice with barely any fruit. Honestly feels like they're just taking advantage of us during finals week when we're desperate for caffeine or something cold.
