That one comment about 'reading for fun' hit me weird

I overheard a freshman say she hadn't read a book for pleasure since 9th grade, and it made me realize I've been treating every assigned chapter like a chore for 3 semesters straight. I picked up a cheap mystery novel from the campus bookstore last Tuesday and finished it in 2 days, so now I'm wondering if anyone else schedules actual fun reading between deadlines or are we all just surviving?

Grabbed a romance novel off my roommate’s shelf during finals week and read it instead of studying for two days straight.
