Switched from highlighting textbooks to making flashcards and my exam scores jumped 15 points in one semester.

Seeing my friend's stack of 500 index cards with diagrams on them convinced me that active recall beats just coloring pages any day. Has anyone else found a study method that clicked later than they expected?

I mean I saw a friend go through that exact thing with active recall. She was one of those people who would spend hours with a highlighter and then wonder why she couldn't remember anything on test day. Then she switched to making those tiny index cards with questions on one side and answers on the back, and within a month she was actually explaining concepts to me without looking at her notes. It was wild watching her go from barely passing to getting Bs just from that one change.

That highlighter thing is so real, I still have a yellow stain on my desk from 4 years ago.
