My roommate left for fall break, came back a whole different person

She was gone just 5 days in Atlanta visiting her family. Came back Monday and suddenly she's waking up at 6am to run, meal prepping, and actually doing the readings before class. Apparently her dad sat her down and showed her his credit card statement for her tuition. Has anyone else seen a roommate flip like this after a short trip home?

The whole "dad showed her the credit card statement" thing hit close to home because my buddy Dave had basically the same wake-up call last year. He went home for a long weekend, came back and suddenly had a whole spreadsheet of his spending for the semester, color coded and everything. His mom didn't even yell, she just printed it out and left it on his bed with a note that said "love you, please look at this." He went from ordering DoorDash every night to making rice and beans in bulk, which honestly smelled terrible but he was committed. The weird part was he wasn't even mad about it, he was almost grateful, like someone finally showed him the math he refused to do. I think it's less about the trip and more about that one moment where the bill becomes real, you know? That kind of shock can rewire a person faster than any motivational speech.
