Group projects would be fine if people actually showed up

I'm in a 4-person group for my psych 101 class at State, and it's week 8 now. Two of my group members have literally never replied to a single email or shown up to our meetups. I'm stuck doing their half of the work on top of my own because the professor docks everyone the same if it's incomplete. Has anyone else had to deal with teammates who just ghost and leave you holding the bag?

Tyler in my group for comp sci 233 straight up stopped coming to class after week 3. I emailed him like 4 times and he finally replied "sorry bro i dropped the class" but never told the professor. So week 7 rolls around and the prof is like "where's Tyler's part?" and I had to explain the whole thing. The prof still made me pick up the slack because "you should have told me sooner." So now I just assume everyone in a group project is gonna flake and plan for it. Maybe start expecting your group to be useless and then you wont be as angry when they actually are.

you should have told me sooner" is wild coming from a professor who literally controls the grade. Like how is it your job to track down a grown adult who stopped showing up? I've been in that exact spot where the prof acts like you're the TA or something. Did your professor actually say what they expected you to do, call the cops on Tyler or wait outside his dorm? Cause I would've been petty and asked for the group to be graded separately after that mess.
