My cheap burr grinder died mid grind and I had to finish with a rolling pin
Last Tuesday I was grinding 30 grams of beans for my morning pour over when my $40 grinder just stopped with a weird smell coming out of the base. I panicked because I had already heated the water to 200 degrees, so I dumped the half crushed beans into a ziplock bag and went at it with a rolling pin on the kitchen counter. It took me almost 15 minutes and the grounds were super uneven, but the cup actually came out kind of interesting with more body. Now I'm stuck deciding if I should fix the grinder or finally upgrade. Anyone else ever have a grinder give out at the worst possible time, and what did you end up doing?
