My buddy swore by cold brew concentrate for iced coffee...

My friend Dave kept telling me to make cold brew concentrate instead of just pouring hot coffee over ice. Said it would taste smoother and less bitter. I finally tried his method last Tuesday with a 1:4 ratio of grounds to water, let it steep for 18 hours. He was totally right, the iced coffee came out way less acidic and I didn't get that weird burnt aftertaste. I'm kicking myself for not listening to him 6 months ago when he first mentioned it. Has anyone else found a big difference switching from hot brew to cold for iced drinks?

That's exactly what happened with me and my cousin when he told me to switch to a french press for my morning coffee. I ignored him for a whole year and wasted so much money on drip machines that made watery, bitter coffee. @hugo_ellis mentioned the heartburn thing and that's a real issue for a lot of people, I think it's crazy how many small changes we overlook just because they're not what we're used to. Same thing happened with switching from normal ketchup to the organic stuff, tastes way better once you bite the bullet and try it. Dave definitely saved you months of bad iced coffee.

Three weeks ago I switched to cold brew for my iced coffee and it was a game changer (seriously, no more heartburn from acid). I feel your pain about not trying it sooner, Dave sounds like a good buddy.
