Unpopular opinion: I spent $340 on a tool presetter for my Haas and my indicators were getting me within a thou the whole time
Two months of setting tools with a $12 indicator and a 1-2-3 block got me closer than the presetter ever did, so what do you all actually use to set tool offsets on a mill without a probe?

That "within a thou the whole time" part is exactly what my buddy found out after he bought one for his VF2. He ran the presetter for a month, then double checked a few tools with his old indicator setup and got the same numbers, so the thing mostly sits in a corner now. For what it's worth he still uses it on long tool holders where reaching the tip with a gauge gets awkward.
