Can we talk about the time I ran a 0.5mm end mill at 15,000 RPM on aluminum and it just... vanished

I was trying to cut some fine detail on a part for a model airplane club in Dayton, and the whole thing just snapped off at the shank halfway through the job, which taught me that sometimes the 'book' feed rates are more like gentle suggestions (has anyone else had a tool just give up like that?).
