Talked with a farmer at the diner about soil health and it changed my view on carbon capture
He told me his no-till fields held moisture through a drought while his neighbor's conventional plots turned to dust. Said the carbon he's banking underground matters more than any solar panel he could install. Makes me wonder how many solutions we are overlooking right under our feet.

Heard something similar from an old timer at the feed store last spring. He was talking about how his granddad used to plow everything under every fall and now he just leaves the stalks stand through winter. Said the birds and bugs get a place to live and the soil stays covered. Told me he noticed his fields dont wash out near as bad during those gullywasher rains we get. Funny how we spent so long thinking bare dirt was clean farming when really it was just leaving the ground naked and defenseless. Makes you wonder what other old school tricks we threw out that actually worked better than the new stuff.
