My uncle told me to skip the heat pump and just get a new gas furnace
He said the tech was too new and wouldn't work in our cold winters. I went with a heat pump anyway last fall, and my January electric bill in Vermont was actually lower than my old gas costs. Has anyone else had family push back on switching from fossil fuels?

Was your uncle also worried about the heat pump not getting hot enough? Mine said the same thing, but the new ones work fine below zero. It's like when people said front wheel drive cars were bad in snow, but now everyone has them. Old ideas about tech just stick around way too long.
