My backyard compost pile hit 140°F and then I ruined it with one dumb mistake
I spent 3 months building this perfect compost system in Denver, turned it too early on Tuesday and now it's just a cold smelly mess, how do I fix this without starting over?

Man, that hurts. But honestly, it's like life in general, right? You put in all the work, get things just right, and then one impatient move undoes months of patience. I've done the same with sourdough starter, left it in a drafty spot overnight and killed the whole thing. The fix is usually boring: don't pile on new stuff, just let it sit and breathe, maybe add some dry leaves and stop poking it. Give it a few weeks to cool off and the worms will find it again on their own. Your pile's not dead, it's just sulking, take this from a guy who's killed three batches of pickles the same way.
