Found out my old fridge was using more power than my AC unit

I was looking at my utility bill last month and noticed the fridge was pulling 18 kWh a day. I looked it up online and found out fridges from before 2001 can use triple the energy of new ones. Has anyone else checked their fridge's power usage with a plug-in meter?

@ben436 says it costs like 50 bucks a month max, which I guess is true until you realize that's almost 600 bucks a year just to keep your leftovers cold. I told my wife I was gonna plug a meter into our fridge and she said "don't bother, you already run like an old appliance anyway.

Man 18 kWh a day does sound kinda high but like how much is that really costing you, like 50 bucks a month max? People get worked up over old fridges but unless it's literally from the 80s you're probably fine.
