Vent: Spent $15 on thermal paste instead of $50 for a shop to clean my laptop
My laptop was hitting 95°C under load for like 6 months, fans always screaming. Watched a 10 minute video on repasting, bought a tube of MX-4 for $15, and now it sits at 68°C after gaming. Has anyone else seen that big of a temp drop just from fresh paste?

@the_ryan that feeling of beating the system is real. @felix_jones probably thinks you just wasted your time, but a 27 degree drop is proof enough for me. Dust buildup in the fins is one thing, but dried out paste is like concrete after a few years. Did you also clean out the fan and heatsink while you were in there? That combo usually gives the biggest gain. My old Dell went from sounding like a jet engine to barely audible after the same routine.
