Pro tip: the open office layout debate at my new job in Austin
I started at a tech company last week and they have this huge open floor plan. Half the team loves the easy chatting, the other half says they can't focus and productivity dropped 20%. Which side wins out for you all in the long run?

We tried mixed zones at my last place and it actually worked pretty well. Half the floor was quiet, half was open talking space. Bosses hated walking between them but us workers got way more done. The trick was putting the loud talkers together near the coffee machines and leaving the back corners silent.
