Found out my local library has free career coaching sessions
I was digging through the community calendar last night and stumbled on a listing that said the library offers one-on-one career coaching every Tuesday afternoon with a certified professional. Turns out it's been running for over 3 years and I never knew about it. Has anyone else checked out free resources like this in their town that ended up being way more helpful than expected?

Not sure I agree. Free career advice from a librarian's friend probably won't compete with actual industry pros who do this for a living.

It's funny how the best stuff in a town is often hidden in plain sight, like we're all too busy looking at our phones to see what's right in front of us. Libraries are quietly the most underrated resource hubs around, free and full of people who actually want to help.

Librarians don't just point you to a book and call it a day. They're actually trained in research methods and can help you find legit industry reports, professional databases, and even free online courses that cost hundreds elsewhere. The career advice part is more about connecting you with resources to figure things out yourself rather than them pretending to be a career coach. Not everything has to come from a "pro" when you can get the same info they use for a fraction of the price.
