Took me 3 trips to realize my sleeping bag rating was a lie
I kept freezing at night in the Sierras and figured it was just me being a cold sleeper, so I layered up with 2 hoodies like an idiot. Turns out the 20 degree rating on my bag means survival, not comfort, and my buddy pointed out the tag actually says "lower limit" in tiny letters. Does anyone else check that rating the right way or did everyone know this but me?
This reminds me of when I bought a "waterproof" jacket and got soaked in a light drizzle on a hike. Same energy honestly. So is the move to just always go 10 to 15 degrees warmer than what they slap on the tag?
