The $15 tarp that beat my $120 tent footprint
Took it out to Lost Maples last weekend and the cheap poly tarp handled the rocky ground way better than the fancy footprint ever did... no tears at all, even after I pulled it out from under the wet tent. Has anyone else ditched the pricey ground protection for plain hardware store tarps?

Wait, did you actually stake it down tight or just lay it flat under the tent? Cause I've seen those cheap tarps bunch up and rub holes in the bathtub floor if they're not pulled snug. Also, how many trips has that $120 footprint seen before you switched? A few weekends on rough dirt can wear out even the good stuff, so I'm wondering if you're comparing new tarp against broken-in footprint or something like that.
