Vent: My two-pass lens clean stopped all my spot complaints

I used to wipe lenses once and call it done. Now I always give it a second go with a new microfiber, and I haven't had a single comeback for dust since. What's your one extra move that makes a big difference?

Lens spots drive me crazy sometimes, so I get your relief. A quick check after the first wipe often shows where I need to go again. Isn't it worth the extra minute to avoid all those comebacks?

Yeah the bright light trick is key. I mean my friend Sam totally learned that the hard way last week. He cleaned a bunch of lenses for a shoot, thought they were perfect, and didn't hold them up to check. Idk maybe he was in a hurry. Then he gets on set and the director points out a huge smudge on every single one under the studio lights. He had to stop everything and re-clean them all while everyone waited. It was so bad. Maybe it's just me but that seems way worse than taking the extra minute up front.

Hey, that's a great tip for making sure it's perfect! I do something similar, but I don't always grab a brand new cloth for the second pass. If my first microfiber is still totally clean, I'll just flip it to a fresh spot and use that. Saves on laundry, you know? The real key for me is holding the lens up to a bright light after the first wipe to check for streaks. Sometimes that second wipe is only needed in one little spot.
