My old foreman told me to always carry a spare coax barrel connector, and I finally saw why.

He said, 'You'll thank me when you're on a roof in the rain and the customer's fitting is stripped.' Last Tuesday in Dayton, that exact thing happened, and I had the part in my bag. What's one piece of gear you guys never leave the truck without?

My old boss had a rule about spare drill chucks after one shattered mid-job. It's like what @reese177 said, but for the tool itself. I've had to swap one out in a crawlspace, and it saved the whole day.

Ugh that crawlspace swap story hits close to home for me. @reese177 makes a good point too - having a spare for the most used tool is smart, but honestly a backup chuck is just as important when you're in a tight spot. Nothing worse than being stuck under a house with a busted drill.

Ever think to carry a spare for the tool you use most, not just the part you fix?
