My attempt at a minimalist weekly spread went full confetti explosion

I got this idea to keep my weekly log super clean with just one pen color... even drew ruler-straight lines for each day, felt pretty proud... then I remembered I needed to highlight my doctor's appointment, so I grabbed a yellow marker... but then the grocery list felt urgent, so that got a red dot... next thing I know, I'm digging out washi tape for a border because the page looked 'empty'... now it's a chaotic mess of colors, shapes, and stickers that completely defeats the 'minimalist' goal... I can barely find my actual tasks under all the decoration... guess my brain just can't handle too much blank space on a page.

Set aside a 'decoration page' at the start of your week for all the stickers and washi tape. I keep my main spread just for tasks written in one pen color, so it stays clean. Use simple symbols like a star for appointments or a circle for groceries instead of jumping to highlighters. In my experience, leaving some blank space actually makes the important stuff stand out more. If you really need color, limit yourself to one accent shade per week. Your brain might fight it at first, but you'll get used to the simpler look.

Your decoration page idea is such a good fix for sticker overload. I agree with grantm57 that one pen color forces you to keep things clean. It feels strange to leave blank space, but it does make the important tasks pop.

Love Sandra's decoration page, totally saves the main spread. Stick with one pen, it gets easier.
