Warning: Don't waste money on custom cable extensions for a hidden PSU

I spent about $60 on fancy braided cable extensions for my build last year. Thought they would make the inside of my case look clean and professional. But here's the thing - my power supply is in a basement compartment with a solid metal cover. Nobody can see those cables at all unless they take the whole PC apart. I wasted a solid 2 hours routing and zip-tying them for nothing. The stock cables that came with my EVGA unit would have worked just fine and looked the same behind that cover. Anyone else buy something flashy that ended up completely hidden from view?

I did the exact same thing with my build last year. Spent $50 on white cable extensions and my PSU is hidden behind a shroud. I felt like such an idiot when I closed the glass panel and realized you literally cannot see any of it. I still leave them in there just because I already paid for them, but it really bugs me every time I think about it.

Oh man, that's like buying RGB fans and putting them in a case with no window. You paid the cable tax for nothing! Those white cables are probably sitting there looking all pretty while nobody ever sees them. At least you can take some comfort knowing your build is technically cleaner than it needs to be. Someday when you upgrade to a case with a full glass side panel or a PSU shroud cutout, those cables will finally get their moment in the spotlight. For now they're just your little secret stash of unnecessary perfection.
