That subscription tracker app exposed my real monthly burn
Last week I finally sat down with one of those free subscription tracking apps after my bank statement felt off. Turns out I was bleeding $63 a month on stuff I forgot I even had, like a photo editing app I used twice and a cloud storage plan I never touch. The kicker was a $9.99 fitness app that auto-renewed for 14 months straight, that's $140 down the drain for a workout routine I ditched ages ago. I canceled 6 subscriptions total and my next paycheck already feels heavier. What surprised me most is how these tiny charges hide in plain sight, they never show up as big red flags. Anyone else found a sneaky recurring charge that made you rethink your whole budget setup?

The photo editing app got me too. Paid for a year of it after a free trial, used it maybe three times, then forgot it existed until the renewal notice hit my inbox with a cheerful reminder that I was about to be charged again. Canceling those feels like getting a tiny raise, especially when you tally up the yearly totals.
The one that really stung for me was a news site I signed up for during election season. Kept paying $8 a month for a year and a half, never once opened a single article after the first week. Canceled it last month and the weird part is I don't miss it at all, so the money was basically going to a ghost.
What gets me is the apps that make canceling a chore. One of them wanted me to jump through three screens and answer a survey about why I was leaving. Made me wonder how many people just give up and keep paying out of pure annoyance.
