Overheard a neighbor bragging about their $0 grocery month and had to bite my tongue
They said they just raided their pantry and friends' gardens, but I know they still bought toilet paper and toothpaste, so where does the real budgeting start and stop for people here?

Yeah, right. Pantry raiding doesn't cover deodorant and dish soap. That's just fancy couponing with extra steps.

Fancy couponing with extra steps is basically the story of my life at this point. I swear, half the stuff I buy at the grocery store ends up in the bathroom cabinet anyways. Might as well just call it "strategic household planning" and charge people for a newsletter. Your mileage may vary, but I've got a whole shelf of toothpaste I bought on sale last year that says otherwise.
