My buddy Dave swore off his daily energy drinks last year, saved up enough for a decent used kayak. That visual of the cash piling up like @thomaslewis said is key. I still buy coffee, but I round up every purchase and dump the change into a separate jar every Friday.

That "car repair fund" is a smart move. I did the same thing after my own coffee wake up call. The trick is to move the money right when you get paid, before you even see it. Makes it way easier to stick with it.
