Cash envelope fight with my sister made me question my whole system

My sister Emily came over last Friday and saw my envelope binder for groceries and eating out. She laughed and said I was "stressing over pennies" and that she just uses a credit card for points and pays it off monthly. At first I got defensive. But then she showed me her rewards total from last year, it was $640 cash back. That's real money. I've been doing envelopes for 3 years now because I overspent with cards in my 20s. But now I'm wondering if I'm missing out on free money because I'm scared of falling back into old habits. Is the discipline worth losing $600 a year? Or is that just the price of staying safe? Has anyone else switched back to cards after years of cash only and not messed it up?
