A guy at the hardware store told me I was overthinking my grocery budget
I was in the checkout line at Home Depot last Saturday holding a new padlock and this older dude behind me saw my reusable bags and asked how much I spend on food. I said around $600 a month for two people and he just laughed and said he feeds his family of four on $350. He told me he buys one big cut of meat a week and stretches it into three meals no leftovers. I still think $600 is reasonable for where I live but has anyone else had a stranger tell you your budget numbers are way off?

Piled right in there with you. Had a woman at the grocery store tell me I was crazy for spending $80 a week on produce for me and my wife. She said she just buys frozen vegetables and canned fruit and her kids are fine. I get that it works for some people, but I like fresh bell peppers and I'm not gonna give up my avocados just to save a few bucks. People love to tell you how to spend your money when they don't know your situation. Different priorities is all it is.
