The free walking tour in Lisbon cost me $60 in pastries

Went on a free walking tour in Lisbon and the guide ended by pointing out his favorite bakery, so I bought a pastel de nata for the group. Then everyone felt weird tipping him, so we all just bought more pastries instead, and somehow my free tour turned into a $60 snack bill. Anyone else fallen for the 'free' tour that ends at a cash register?

Pastel de nata for the whole group alone would run me like $30, so $60 is wild.
