Got stuck in Prague for a week and it turned into the cheapest vacation ever

My flight home got canceled and the airline put me up in a hotel for 7 days. I had no extra cash for fancy stuff, so I just walked everywhere. Found a local bakery where a full breakfast was under $3 and a free walking tour that was actually great. I spent maybe $15 a day total just eating from markets and seeing all the free parks and views. Has anyone else had a canceled trip turn into a surprise budget adventure? What did you do to keep costs down?

My flight to Berlin got delayed for 48 hours once. I totally get what @parker_bell means about plans falling apart. You stop trying to see everything and just start to live there for a minute. I lived on grocery store sandwiches and just sat in different cafes all day people watching. It felt more real than any trip I ever planned. Those forced slow downs can be the best part.

My cousin got stranded in Lisbon last year and said the same thing. Honestly I've started to believe the best travel happens when your plans fall apart and you're forced to just exist in a place. Tbh it strips away all the pressure to do expensive tourist stuff. You end up just watching daily life in a new city, which is way more interesting than any guided tour.
