Pulled up old carpet and found hardwood I didn't know I had
Last weekend I finally got around to ripping out the gross beige carpet in my living room. I figured I'd just lay down some cheap laminate until I saw the original oak flooring underneath. After some research online, I learned that a lot of houses built before 1960 in my area have hardwood hidden under carpet. I spent about $40 on a floor sander rental from the local hardware store and another $30 on stain. Three days of sanding and wiping down dust later, it looks better than any new floor I could afford. Has anyone else found unexpected treasures like this under old carpet?

Yeah no kidding! @caseyw12 you just saved me from another weekend trip to three different stores hunting for this stuff. My garage looks like a hoarder episode right now so this is perfect timing.
