Paint vs new furniture for a living room refresh - which actually works better?
I was totally skeptical that a $30 gallon of paint could transform a room as much as a $500 couch, but after painting my boring beige walls a deep navy in Chicago last spring, I got three compliments in a week - so has anyone else found paint to be the better budget move, or are you team new furniture all the way?

Wait, did you say deep navy in a Chicago apartment? I feel like navy can sometimes make a room feel smaller than it already is, especially in a city with less natural light. I painted my old living room a slate blue and it honestly made the place feel like a cave for six months until I caved and bought a lighter rug and some white curtains. Not saying paint is bad, but you gotta pick the right shade or it can backfire harder than a worn out couch.

Yeah totally feeling you on that, @eric_ramirez67. Navy's a gamble for sure.
