Hit $37 in paint samples and my bathroom looks like an art gallery

Last month I grabbed 5 different mistint cans from the hardware store's discount rack for about $7 each. I painted one wall in the guest bathroom with a deep teal, then used the leftover lighter shades to make a cheap geometric pattern with painter's tape. Took me a full Saturday but the room went from builder beige to something people actually compliment. Anyone else ever made mistints work for a small space, or did I just get lucky with the color combo?

Saw a post where someone did the same thing with mistints in their laundry room and it looked straight out of a magazine. Paint is paint, so you basically got a custom look for pocket change.
