I finally learned why my rice cooker was making mushy rice
I overheard a guy at the grocery store talking about rinsing rice three times before cooking. I never did that, just dumped it in with water. After 4 months of bad rice meals, I tried it last night and it came out perfect. My burrito bowls taste way better now for the same $1.50 per serving. Anyone else skip this step for too long?

It is funny how often we overthink things when the simple fix was right there the whole time.

The "simple fix" thing is spot on, because so many cooking failures come down to one dumb habit we refuse to break. Once I started rinsing, I realized the starch was the whole problem, and now I can't imagine skipping it even when I'm in a hurry. It's wild how a 30 second rinse changes everything, but now I tell everyone to just do it and trust the process.
