Hit 10,000 bricks laid in a single year and it got me thinking about quality vs speed
I kept track last year on a job in Tulsa and ended up hitting 10,000 bricks laid by November. That number surprised me because I always thought I was pretty methodical, taking my time on corners and arches. But then a old timer told me he hit 15,000 in his prime and my bricks probably look better... that's the debate right? Do you aim for a high count or focus on every joint being perfect? Has anyone else tracked their numbers and found a different balance?

Hell yeah, I used to be ALL about speed. Thought the guys taking their time were just slow and wasting daylight. But last summer I worked a job where the homeowner was a literal architect and he walked around pointing out every tiny imperfection. Made me feel like a fool. Now I get it. There's no trophy for most bricks in a day if you have to go back and fix stuff later. 10k is a SOLID number by the way, especially if your work holds up. Quality is just speed you don't have to redo later.

Wait, you're telling me some old timer bragged about 15,000 bricks and then also said yours probably look better? That sounds like a backhanded compliment if I ever heard one.
