Vent: My high school English teacher told me to always annotate every page and it wrecked my reading for years.

I followed her advice for 3 months straight in junior year and by the end I couldn't finish a single chapter without stopping to write something down, so has anyone else had a book club debate fall apart because someone's annotation habit made them miss the actual plot?

My highlighter collection is more developed than my actual reading comprehension.

Start with just one highlighter and actually read the whole book first before you let yourself buy more. That way you're not stuck with a bunch of colors and nothing to show for it (trust me, I learned this the hard way).
